8 MILLION TONS OF GRAVEL EXTRACTED AND THEN INFILL ON
YOUR DOOR STEP
THE HAMPSHIRE MINERALS PLAN IN RESPECT OF THE CHILLING AND
BROWNWICH ESTATES WILL DESTROY THE AREA AS WE KNOW IT AND HAVE FAR-REACHING
CONSEQUENCES FOR LOCKS HEATH SARISBURY GREEN, TITCHFIELD, WARSASH, PARK GATE
The Plan details the vast area of Chilling and Brownwich
(equivalent to the area of 70 St Mary Stadiums) as an Alternate Site with
Hamble and other locations as Preferred Sites.
Hamble and others are putting up a fierce campaign to come off the list. If they
succeed and Chilling and Brownwich become Preferred Sites EVERYONE IN THE AREA
WILL BE AFFECTED.
The plan will mean the devastation of 300 hectares, which is 4 square miles of
your countryside, Swallowing up farmland, bridleways, wildlife & spectacular
coastline.
ALL OF US will be affected by suffering continuing
noise and vibration from quarrying machinery; choking dust and pollution;
falling house prices; traffic congestion and disruption with 400,000 large
gravel lorries using local roads and lanes. Walks, bridleways, wildlife,
important recreational areas and tranquil countryside will be destroyed and
replaced by large deep, steep gravel pits and infill.
The Echo reports a HCC spokesperson as saying; if any site is taken off the
current list it will have to be replaced by something else meaning an
alternate site will be upgraded to a preferred site.
Look at what has happened at Port Solent over the past years !
You can view the relevant documents online at the Hampshire County Council

link.
You can also view the objections online via the consultation website on the section
45
page There is an view objections icon to the right of the pAPA4 map (about half
way down the page).
The initial consultation deadline has passed, but we
are still working behind the scenes on the campaign. For example we will be at
the Warsash Festival on 5th July 2008. We have also been talking to some of the
local photographers and artists and on our links page we have added a link to
David Brim's online gallery of photos from the Chilling and Brownwich area.
